COMMON QUESTIONS

What does this program involve? How long is it?

The Soul of Hope by Doug Lipman:

  • is a two-hour-plus, one-person storytelling show
  • incorporates flute and guitar*
  • is in two acts
    1. Act I is 70 minutes in length
    2. Act II is 50 minutes long.
  • includes a 10-minute or longer intermission. You can serve refreshments, if you desire.
*If the religious observance of your organization prohibits the use of musical instruments on the date of the performance, they can easily be omitted.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What are the technical staging requirements?

  • Requires only a stool or chair and a glass of water!
  • It helps if you can provide a small table for the glass of water and Doug's flute (and, when Doug is not able to drive to you, for Doug's set of five small candles).
  • Doug will bring (to place on-stage):
    • a candleabra, which he lights in the course of the performance
    • a guitar-stand
  • Call to discuss sound system requirements, if any. (Doug has his own system or will plug into yours.)

COMMON QUESTIONS

What are appropriate audiences?

The Soul of Hope is most appropriate for teen and adult audiences. A Jewish background is not necessary to understand and enjoy the story.
